Interior demolition is an integral part of any renovation. Whether you’re building a new bathroom or an entirely new apartment, what is being replaced must first be removed. Our team at Demolition: Impossible takes pride in safely demolishing and deconstructing old fixtures, flooring, or walls, leaving a clean work area that is ready for the installation of new materials.   • Once our project manager has conducted our final pre-demolition walkthrough with you and marked all of the materials that must be demolished or deconstructed, our team starts the setup phase. The setup phase is all about protecting whatever is not being removed and keeping your neighbours or strata council happy. We set up vapour barriers and air-scrubbers to keep dust out of any rooms that are not being renovated and lay carpet protection down in any common areas that are shared with your neighbours. Our team, recognizable by our Demolition: Impossible apparel, is polite, clean, and takes care to keep yourself and your neighbours happy.

    After the setup phase is completed, the actual demolition begins. Our site supervisor and team leader works with our demolition specialists to systematically complete the demolition scope safely and efficiently. Completed areas are swept, vacuumed, and wiped down, leaving no trace of nails, dust, or debris. If there are any change orders or extras (“Actually, I want the bedroom flooring to go as well”), our project manager will incorporate the added scope into our workflow so that we do not have to come back a second time.

    In coordination with you, the client, our project manager will schedule a time for waste removal (if required by your strata council), and remove all waste and recyclable materials from your project before the final post-demo walkthrough is completed. The post-demo walkthrough is when we confirm with you that the demolition scope has been completed and you are blown away by our services.

  • The length of a project depends on the exact scope, but here are some examples that can help you estimate how much time is required:

    Project: Small to medium sized bathroom
    Scope:
    • All fixtures, drywall, and flooring removed
    • Limited square footage with tile or backsplash
    • Limited dust protection setup required
    • The bathroom is close to ground level

FAQs

  • In many cases, all hazardous material removal and nonstructural modifications can be completed without a permit. These cases may include removing asbestos-containing drywall, removing flooring, or removing cabinetry. We recommend that you consult with your municipality’s permitting department or your general contractor to determine what requirements must be met for your renovation.

  • Because interior demolition involves many variables apart from square footage (i.e. cement grout vs epoxy grout or ground floor house vs 20th-floor apartment), coming to see the location of your renovation in person allows us to provide you with accurate pricing that takes these variables into account. As demolition specialists, our experience tells us how many additional labour hours are required to account for difficult dust protection installation or carrying materials down staircases/elevators.

  • Our interior demolition service is not complete until all dust and debris are removed from our work areas. Our Demolition Specialists sweep, vacuum, and wipe down all surfaces so that your trades can come in the next day to a spotless work environment.

  • We try to avoid the landfill whenever possible. Our Project Managers identify what materials and items in your project scope can be salvaged or recycled prior to starting your project. We work with our partner companies to find a home for cabinets, doors, appliances, and anything else that is easily usable. Clean and untreated wood is either stored for construction-use or taken to facilities that turn the wood into other usable materials. All drywall and concrete materials are taken to the proper recycling facilities.
